Turnovers derail Resorters in BEC debut

ELKHART LAKE – Turnovers plagued the Elkhart Lake- Glenbeulah Resorters as they fell to Kohler, 67-44, in both teams’ Big East Conference girls basketball opener here Friday night.

The Blue Bombers raised their overall mark to 2-0 while EL-G slipped to 0-2.

Kohler forced many of the turnovers via its full-court press and was able to convert many of them into points. The Bombers had a whopping 25 steals, led by Samantha Renzelmann with six.

“It is hard to overcome that many turnovers,” said Resorter head coach Donny Kulow.

“Even with the turnovers we were able to make a run and cut the Kohler lead to eight a few times. It takes a lot of energy to do that and with about five minutes left in the game Kohler pulled away for good.

“When we executed the break, we would convert or have a good chance to score, so we are capable. We will learn and move on and get ready for our next game,” said Kulow.
