CECILIA SCHMITZ

Cecilia Schmitz, age 85, of Plymouth, WI, passed away peacefully Saturday (November 18, 2017) at Anita’s Garden’s in Plymouth.

She was born October 3, 1932 at home in St. Cloud, WI, a daughter of the late Joseph and Francis (Kraus) Gau.

She attended St. Claudius Catholic grade school in St. Cloud and graduated from St. Mary’s Springs Academy in June of 1951.

She married Lester P. Schmitz on July 21, 1951, in St Cloud, WI. He preceded her in death on August 7, 2015.

Cecilia was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth, WI where she was active in Daughters of Isabella and held many offices including the regent.

She worked at Waldo Orchards until she retired in 1995.

She enjoyed reading, playing cards, playing dominos and word searches.

She is survived by three Sons; Michael (Kathleen) Schmitz of Sheboygan Falls, WI; Daniel (Vickie) Schmitz of Plymouth, WI; and Ronald Schmitz and special friend Tammy, of Bradley, IL; two daughters; Marie (Richard) Kalies of Plymouth, WI; Julie (Jeffrey) Ritzman, of Appleton, WI; nine grandchildren, Christopher Schmitz, of Sheboygan, Ryan Schmitz of Brown Deer, Angela Schmitz of Milwaukee, Bart Schmitz of Plymouth, Sandy (Jeff) Appel of Indianapolis IN; Jason (Laura) Kalies of Wayzata, MN; Sara Kalies (fiancé Dr. James Morgan) of Wythville, VA; Jaclyn Ritzman of Ishpeming MI, Joshua Ritzman of Appleton; three great granddaughters Alicia Delabreau of Milwaukee; Drew and Belin Appel of Indianapolis IN.

Further survived by two brothers; Bernard (Marge) Gau of Fond du lac, WI; Brother John Gau OFM CAP of Appleton, WI; three sisters-in-law Cleopha Gau, Lillian (James) Foote, Mae Schmitz, and brother in-law John Schmitz, additionally survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cecilia was preceded in death by her husband Lester, son Gerard Schmitz; sisters; Margaret Sippel, Mary Anna Endejan, Florence Lefeber; brothers; Arthur Gau, Elmer Gau, Melvin Gau, and Joseph Gau.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday afternoon November 24, 2017 at 1 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. Father Philip Reifenberg, Pastor of the Church will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, November 24 from 10 a.m. until the time of mass.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Cecilia’s name.
