Tigers’ attack struggles in BEC defeat

SHEBOYGAN – The Howards Grove Tigers shot only 25 percent from the field as they fell to host Sheboygan Lutheran, 46-37, in Big East Conference girls basketball action Nov. 21.

HG dropped to 1-1 in the BEC (2-1 overall). The Crusaders improved to 2-0 in the league (3-0 overall).

Lutheran outscored the Tigers 28-16 in the second half after trailing 21-18 at halftime.

Katelyn Witte led Lutheran in scoring with 14 points and Dacota Weigert tallied 12. Weigert dominated on the boards with a game-high 18 rebounds. The Crusaders held an impressive 33-18 rebounding edge.

Maddy Near paced the Tigers in scoring with 13, boards, 11 and steals with three. Mackenzie Holzwart also made three steals. Zayla Mueller had a team-high three assists.
