Tigers rally late to slip past Raiders

HOWARDS GROVE – The Howards Grove Tigers rallied from a 10-point deficit late in the second half to edge Kiel, 44-42, in a nonconference girls game here Tuesday night.

The Tigers improved to 4-4 and the Raiders dropped to 4-3.

‘We switched to a man press [late in the game] and were able to capitalize off missed shots and turnovers. Mackenzie Holzwart had seven steals and was very disruptive in full-court defense,” said Tiger head coach Heidi Georgeff.

Holzwart, a freshman guard, led HG in steals, followed by Leah Parnitzke’s three. Holzwart also had a team-high 13 points and three assists.

Maddy Near paced the Tigers in rebounds with eight and Holzwart had seven.
