Panthers bounce back with ECC victory

PHS upped its ECC record to 1-1 (4-2 overall). The Panthers were coming off a 55-38 defeat at Kettle Moraine Lutheran (Jackson).

Ripon, the defending ECC champion, dropped to 1-1 in the league (3-3 overall).

Sophomore guard Cole Booth ignited the PHS attack with 24 points and Cade Knaus hit 17.

The Panthers opened up a 31- 18 halftime lead, led by Booth’s 12 points. PHS trailed only once on the night and that was by one early in the game.

Cooper Gosse paced PHS in assists with four. Brandon Keller led in rebounds with five. Mason Guell had a team-high three steals.

“For large stretches of the game we moved the ball well and did a tremendous job of taking away what they prefer to do on the offensive end with solid team defense.

“Cole Booth and Cade Knaus attacked the hoop well. In his second game back from injury Brandon Keller continues to get into game shape. Nick Falls provided a defensive spark in the second half,” said Schultz.

Luke Rogers and Max Beuthin led the Tigers in scoring with 12 each.

PHS outscored Ripon 23-14 at the foul line. The Tigers were hurt by 24 turnovers.

JV GAMES

In junior varsity-1 play, the Panthers won, 40-30, to improve to 1-1 in the ECC (3-3 overall). Sam Shutter led PHS in scoring with 10 and steals with seven.

Zach Zeeveld and Ben Olsen paced PHS in rebounds with seven each. Michael Troka had a team-high two blocked shots.

The PHS JV-2 team fell, 52- 40. Adam Miller and AJ Osieczanek led PHS in scoring with 10 each.

The Panthers were outscored 33-20 in the second half.
