Resorters earn second in Kewaunee Invite

Kewaunee won the tournament with 285.5 points, followed by the Resorters with 240.

Elkhart’s champions included senior Max Ward at 152 pounds with a 5-0 record and five pins; senior Troy Rebedew, 170, 4-0 and a bye, two pins; junior Matthew Schorer, 220, 5-0, three pins; and senior Jon Roll, 285, 5-0, five pins.

The Resorters’ other top-six finishers were Cody Rebedew, second at 126 with a 4-1 mark and three pins; Cody Nelson, third, 138, 3-2, two pins; Raistlin Lopez-Lloyd, fourth, 132, 4-1, two pins; Finn Shields, fourth, 182, 2-3, two pins; and Ben Meisewlitz, sixth, 160, 1-3, one pin.

“Everyone wrestled very well contributing to our secondplace finish. Ward and Roll were on top of their game with both getting four pins in the first period, including the finals,” said Resorter head coach Larry Ward.

“Troy Rebedew wrestled the best he has all season which I was very happy to see. Matthew Schorer wrestled well all day also, controlling all of his opponents. Ward, Schorer and Roll did not get scored on all day.

“Cody Rebedew has a great start to the season going. He picked up some quality wins to finish in second place. Cody Nelson is looking real solid this season,” said coach Ward.
