SMC’s 3-point onslaught topples EL-G

NEENAH – The St. Mary Catholic Zephyrs poured in eight three-pointers to key a 59-48 win over the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters in a Big East Conference girls basketball game here Dec. 14.

The Resorters dropped to 0-6 in the BEC (0-7 overall). The Zephyrs hiked their league record to 4-2 (6-2 overall).

Sophomore guard Ellie Ausloos pumped in a careerhigh 24 points to spark the Elkhart attack. She was 12 of 17 at the foul line. Ausloos had an outstanding overall game as she also had a team-high nine rebounds, three assists and four steals.

Sydney Anderson paced SMC in scoring with 18.

The Resorters were plagued by 25 turnovers and were outscored 24-3 from three-point range.

“We played a pretty competitive game, especially in the first half. We moved the ball well and had good spacing on offense. We played with intensity and energy,” said Resorter head coach Donny Kulow.

“SMC shot the three-ball very effectively and crashed the offensive glass. We did a nice job of attacking the basket and getting to the free-throw line.

“Defensively, we have a hard time getting out on threepoint shooters. We give up way too many [three-pointers]. We will spend some time before our next game to work on that,” said Kulow.
