Panthers stay perfect in EWC duals

STURGEON BAY – The Plymouth Panthers’ boys swimming and diving team stayed unbeaten in Eastern Wisconsin Conference competition after winning the triangular meet here Thursday night.

PHS dominated the meet – racking up 145 points, followed by Sturgeon Bay with 81 and Two Rivers/Manitowoc Roncalli with 59.

The triangular counted as two dual meets. PHS, which has won five straight duals, improved to 4-0 in the EWC and 6-2 overall.

Senior Ben Schaefers led the Panthers as he won two events – the 100-yard butterfly and the 500 freestyle.

“It was a good meet for Plymouth. We were down a couple of varsity swimmers but so was Sturgeon Bay,” said PHS head coach Clare Sedlacek.

“Charlie Aschenbach had a personal-best score of 225.00 points in diving [for six dives], taking first. Alec Nicholson also had a personal-best, scoring 176.00.

“Derek Holec took second in the 100 backstroke with a season- best time of 1:05.05,” Sedlacek noted.

PHS won the junior varsity meet easily – scoring 96, followed by TR/Roncalli with 16 and Sturgeon Bay, four.
