ADELL — The Village Board met Wednesday but, unlike recent months, there was no Plan Commission meeting prior to the board meeting.

Kevin Struck, growth management educator at the Sheboygan UW-Extension, has been helping Adell over the past few months make basic changes to its comprehensive plan. He was unable to meet with the Plan Commission this night because of a scheduling conflict.

The end result of his months of work with the Plan Commission will be realized Wednesday, March 14.

The evening will start with a public hearing at 6:30 p.m., after which will be a Plan Commission meeting, and then the regular monthly board meeting.

Director of Public Works Shawn Bigelow told the board he has been looking for a replacement for the village’s existing lawnmower, which is nearly broken down.

Bigelow has found a possible candidate, specially priced, that is wider and faster than the current lawnmower. It has attachments for a snow blower, mower deck, and broom. Bigelow thought it would be a good idea to also get a trailer for it.

Village President Andrew Schmitt encouraged Bigelow to pursue the purchase, as the potential price is within the budget. The board agreed, and unanimously voted accordingly.

Bigelow recapped 2017’s highlights for the village’s public works. They included an update to the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) software system; a rebuild of the Well One booster pump; testing water heaters; water tower inspection.

The current year’s to-do list includes inspection and cleaning of the water reservoir at the well house and testing Well Two.

Bigelow went into some detail describing chemical treatment of the water at the Onion River Wastewater facility.

Police report for the past month: Four citations (all winter parking violations, totaling $80.00); one warning; five complaints investigated (two winter parking issues; disabled motorist; remove hazardous items from road; assist Sheriff’s Office with traffic stop); 10 property checks; no arrests made, traffic accidents investigated, court appearances, or warrants.
