Bahr leads Resorters to BEC win

SHEBOYGAN – Senior forward Kianna Bahr’s 19 points led a balanced Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah attack which fueled a 66- 53 win over Sheboygan Christian in a Big East Conference girls basketball game here Jan. 9.

The Resorters improved to 1-8 in the BEC (3-10). The Eagles fell to 1-9 in the league (2-11 overall).

Ellie Ausloos hit 16 points and Alex Schneider tallied 15 for the Resorters who had eight players in the scoring column.

“A nice road win for us. We made some key free throws to put the game away,” said Resorter head coach Donny Kulow.

Kulow said Ausloos, Sarah Schneider, Mia Rentmeester and Alex Schneider made key free throws. Alex Schneider, a sophomore guard, sank a team-high nine foul shots out of 11 attempts.

“Alex did a nice job late in the game when Ellie Ausloos had foul trouble and Avery Feldmann was unable to play in the second half because of a possible concussion,” said Kulow.

“Offensively, we are starting to click. We need to be better on defense and not put teams at the [free-throw] line so much. Rebounding needs to improve as well.”

Bahr led the Resorters in rebounds with an impressive 14, followed by Maddie Schneider with eight. Bahr also led in blocked shots with two.

Ausloos paced Elkhart in steals with an outstanding eight. Ausloos and Alex Schneider had a team-high two assists each.

Ashley Flipse led the Eagles in scoring with 11.
