Kohler approves fire agreement with Falls

KOHLER - The Village Board approved renewing a five-year collaboration agreement between the Kohler and Sheboygan Falls fire departments at their Jan. 15 meeting.

Over the past five years, the cooperation agreement has increased the Kohler Fire Department's number of calls as well as for the Sheboygan Falls department. That has led to recent discussions of the creation of a joint fire department for the two neighboring municipalities.

However, any possible consolidation is not currently under any serious consideration so the present agreement has been extended for another five years, as both sides seem fine with the agreement.

The board approved the annual resolution updating the emergency operations plan. The plan covers emergency situations such as a tornado or other incident that would require immediate purchase of equipment and other important material, authorizing the village president and emergency management director to act in such situations.

Several hirings were approved by the board, including a part-time police officer to replace a former part-time officer hired last year who recently resigned as well as two part-time employees for the Youth Center.

The non-managerial employee wage schedule won board approval.

Several temporary class B beer and wine licenses were approved, including the St. John Evangelist Church Winterfest Jan. 28, Kohler Police Athletic League brat fry Feb. 18, and Kohler Foundation Distinguished Guest Series events Feb. 9 and March 9.
