PHS coach to be honored Thursday

Mike Gumm of Plymouth, a longtime and very successful junior varsity girls basketball coach at Plymouth High School, will be honored for his coaching at a ceremony Thursday night in the PHS gym.

Gumm, who retired from coaching last year, will be recognized immediately following the junior varsity-1 girls basketball game between PHS and Campbellsport. The game will start at 5:45 p.m. The varsity contest will tip off about 7:15 p.m. following the ceremony.

Montazella leads UW-S to win

MARINETTE – Vinny Montazella, a freshman guard from Sheboygan Lutheran, scored 26 points to spark the UW-Sheboygan Wombats past UW-Marinette, 79-64, in Wisconsin Collegiate Conference men’s basketball action here Saturday afternoon.

Alex Antonie of Sheboygan Falls contributed 19 points for the Wombats who improved to 7-5 in the WCC (12-8 overall).

UW-Sheboygan used a 13-0 run to start the second half which broke the game open as it built a 42-20 lead.
