JAMES L. WATSON

James L. Watson, age 77, of Plymouth, WI, passed away on Sunday (January 28, 2018) at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility in Plymouth, where he had been a resident for the past 11 days.

He was born on May 27, 1940 in Plymouth, a son of the late Ray and Ruth (Mueller) Watson.

James attended Plymouth grade schools and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1958.

He worked for a couple years at Arndt’s Restaurant in Plymouth, and worked for 50 years at Bordens, where he was known as “Bear”, retiring in 2009.

On February 23, 1963, he married Kathleen Yurmanovich at Salem U.C.C. in Plymouth. The couple has resided in Plymouth since their marriage.

James was an avid race fan. In 1960, his interest in racing began when he and his brother-in-law, Billy, built and raced modified stock cars at local race tracks.

He later started filming races for the Plymouth Fair Grounds and Badger Midget Sprint Races throughout the Midwest. He received the Media Award from Angel Park in Sun Prairie, and many of his video clips were shown on the local news stations.

Survivors include his wife: Kathleen of Plymouth; Two children: Tim (Angie) Watson of Plymouth, Cara Mallmann of Plymouth; Six grandchildren: Jacob and Joshua Mallmann, Dena, Caleb, Jacey, and Adam Watson all of Plymouth; One sister: Betty (Al) Steiner of Cascade; One brother: Jeff “Doc” Watson of Lacombe, LA; One aunt: Florence Blanke of Plymouth; and Two sisters-in-law: Janice (Steve) Bant of Nevada and Patty Yurmanovich of Waldo.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law: Billy Yurmanovich.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday evening (February 2, 2018) at 6:00 P.M. at Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Rev. Richard Backhaus will officiate.

Visitation will take place at Suchon Funeral Home on Friday (Feb. 2) from 3:00 P.M. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in James’ name.
