Hefter, Gore lead PHS at Laconia Invite

Meyer lost, 6-3. – Submitted photo ROSENDALE – Senior Jake Hetfter and freshman Devin Gore finished 4-0 at 113 and 195 pounds, respectfully, to lead the Plymouth Panthers in the Laconia Invitational dual wrestling tourna- ment here Saturday.

Hefter recorded one pin and Gore had one pin and earned a technical fall by a 26-11 score.

Three Panthers posted 3-1 records – Gabe Haun at 285, Jesse Schwarten, 220 and Will Birkholz at 138.

The Panthers placed fourth in the five-team, round-robin tourney with a 1-3 dual record. PHS defeated tourney host Laconia, 50-27. The Panthers lost to Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln, 45-18; Chilton/Hilbert, 39-30; and Ripon, 45-29.

Lincoln captured first with a 4-0 mark.

“The highlights of the day included Jake Hefter and Devin Gore winning all four matches and getting first-place medals. Gabe Haun, Jesse Schwarten and Will Birkholz won three and lost one, receiving second-place medals,” said Panther head coach Rick Gruber.

“We had a pretty flat weekend of wrestling overall.”
