Ward, who earned his fourth straight trip to state, defeated Andrew Forsythe of North Fond du Lac/Fond du Lac St. Mary’s Springs in the 145-pound finals, 12-6. Ward chalked up a 3-0 record in the tournament, including pins in the first round and the semifinals.

Roll, who will be making his second straight state berth, pinned Sheboygan Falls’ Scott Klemme in the 285-pound finals in 1:31. Roll scored pins in the first round and semifinals to go 3-0 on the day.

The D-2 state tournament will be held at UW-Madison’s Kohl Center. Roll and Ward earned a first-round bye and will compete in the quarterfinals on Friday, starting at approximately 11:15 a.m. The state meet runs from Thursday through Saturday.

“I am very proud of Max and Jon for returning to the state tournament this year. They are both peaking at the right time of the season,” said Resorter head coach Larry Ward.

Once you get down there [at state] anything can happen. Records don’t mean a thing. We are in the time of the season where it is 90 percent mental.

“You have to have confidence in yourself and be mentally prepared. They will be ready when they take to the mat Friday,” said coach Ward.

Elkhart’s other sectional wrestlers were freshman 132-pounder Raistlin-Lopez- Lloyd and junior Matthew Schorer at 220. Schorer placed fourth and posted two falls, and Lopez-Lloyd didn’t place. The top-three finishers at each weight class qualified for state.

“They [Schorer and Lopez- Lloyd] both wrestled well but came up short. I know they will build on the experience and come back next year hungrier then ever and with lofty goals for their season,” said the Resorter coach.

Campbellsport won the 22- team sectional with 96.5 points. Elkhart took sixth with 57.
