Knights coast past Resorters in regional debut

OSHKOSH – Oshkosh Lourdes Academy outscored the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters 49-17 in the first half to key an 89-52 rout in a Division 5 boys regional basketball first-round game here Tuesday night.

The No. 2-seeded Knights improved to 16-7 while the 15th-seeded Resorters finished 4-19. Lourdes will host No. 7-seeded Faith Christian Academy (Wautoma) in the semifinals Friday, March 2 at 7 p.m.

Lourdes exploded for eight of its 14 three-point goals in the first half. Ben Huizenga poured in 14 points to spark the Knights’ attack in the half.

Henry Noone spearheaded a very balanced Lourdes offense with 19 points, including five treys. Six Knights scored in double figures.

Senior forward Caleb Broaddus led Elkhart in scoring with 17, all in the second half. Broaddus popped in five three-pointers. Justin Schultz tallied 12 points on four threepoint goals. EL-G made 11 threes.

Noah Ruh paced the Resorters in assists with an impressive eight. Broaddus and Dante Miller had a team-high five rebounds each.
