DOT sets summer road projects

It looks to be a light season for major state road construction projects in the county this summer.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Northeast Region has announced its list of state highway construction projects scheduled in 2018, including all DOT projects on interstates, the United States highway system, and the Wisconsin state highway system. This is a tentative listing, and additional projects may be added based on funding levels. All schedules are subject to change.

One project is median cable guard installation on Interstate 43 from Wilson Lima Road in Sheboygan County to Fischer Creek in Manitowoc County. The 6.2-mile project is scheduled to run from May to August.

This project will install median cable guard to prevent crossover crashes and apply a friction surface treatment on the I-43/County EE overpass. Single lane closures at various times during construction are anticipated.

State 23 will be resurfaced from Division Road in the town of Greenbush to County P in city of Plymouth. The 7.5-mile, 25-day project is anticipated to start in June .

Work will consist of milling and resurfacing of asphaltic pavement surface, adding base aggregate to shoulders, adding centerline rumble strips, signing, pavement marking, and beam guard adjustments.

Single lane closures on State 23 with flagging operations are anticipated. All lanes will remain open during holidays and large race events at Road America.
