Novotny went 21-1¼ in the long jump. Schermacher had a performance of 13-6 in the pole vault.

The Panthers scored 63 points in the 18-team meet. Slinger was the champion with 127.25.

Sheboygan Falls took seventh with 33 points, Howards Grove finished 12th at 15 and Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah placed 15th with seven.

Plymouth’s Jack Nytes tied for second in the shot put with 44-6.

The Panthers’ other topfive finishers included: Mack Mella, fourth in the 400-meter dash in 58.02 seconds; Mason Guell, third, 800 run, 2 minutes, 7.78 seconds; Guell, fourth, triple jump, 39-1¼; and the 3,200 relay, fifth in 9:24.28. The relay included Eric Preissner, Guell, Adam Smith and Luke Schneider.

The HG Tigers were led by their 640 relay team of Justin Miller, Will Rautmann, Kaedin Roethel and Jack Peterson which placed fourth in 1:24.97. Also placing in the top five was Peterson who captured fifth in the 55 dash in 6.90.

The Elkhart Resorters’ top finisher was Hunter Radloff who took fifth in the 800 in 2:13.36.

Panther head coach Jay Grosshuesch thought his team had a nice meet.

“We are still working on getting our athletes into shape and trying to get the ‘kinks’ out of our field events. I was impressed with how well we did in the field events, given our lack of indoor field-event facilities,” said Grosshuesch.

“Jaxsen had a great night in the pole vault, and Derek and Mason jumped real well. Jack also began his season well with a nice throw in the shot put.

“The boys got some nice runs from Mason in both the open 800 and the 3,200 relay,” said Grosshuesch.
