HG’s Pedrin in 3-Point Challenge

MADISON – Junior guard Blake Pedrin of Howards Grove competed in the 2018 WIAA Boys 3-Point Challenge Saturday morning at UW-Madison’s Kohl Center.

The event was held in conjunction with the boys state basketball tournament at the Kohl Center. Ten participants were selected for the event, based on statistical information entered by coaches into the WisSports.net database. The top two three-point shooters (minimum 75 attempts) from each of the five divisions were chosen to participate.

Pedrin, from Division 4, advanced to the semifinals after hitting 20 three-pointers in the first round. Advancing to the finals were senior Drew Severson of Eleva-Strum (D-5) and senior Ryan Steffes of New Holstein (D-3) after they made 25 and 23 three-point goals, respectively, in the semifinals. Pedrin sank 19 in the semifinals.

Steffes won the 3-Point Challenge with 22 three-pointers in the finals, compared to Severson’s 18.

For the season, Pedrin shot an impressive 51.5 percent from threepoint range with 53-for-105.
