Peters throws two-hitter, PHS cruises

PLYMOUTH – Senior Sylvia Peters fired a two-hitter as the Plymouth Panthers routed visiting Green Bay West, 11- 1, in softball action Monday afternoon.

The nonconference game was the season opener for both teams.

Peters fanned nine batters, walked only one and allowed one earned run. The game was called after 4-1/3 innings due to the 10-run rule.

“Sylvia had a nice opener on the mound. She threw strikes and kept them off stride with very good changeups,” said Panther head coach Gale Grahn.

“This is a good, solid outing for the Panthers. It’s nice to start the season with a win.”

The Panthers broke the game open with three runs in the bottom of the fourth in- ning and four in the fifth. In the fourth, Sommer Stoney had an RBI single and PHS was helped by two hit batters and a walk.

In the PHS fifth, Maezie Reilly and Izzy Arbuckle had one RBI single each.

Kennedy Arbuckle ripped an RBI double. Gracie Kasuboski cracked a double and drove in a run.

Izzzy Arbuckle and Stoney paced PHS in runs with three each. Stoney stole a teamhigh two bases and walked three times.

“Izzy had a solid varsity debut with two hits and three runs scored,” said Grahn.

The Wildcats’ pitching surrendered four walks and hit three batters. Liliana Corona- Erieau was the starting and losing pitcher. She allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits with two walks and one strikeout in three innings.
