Jolly Pranksters to present show, compete in tourney

The Plymouth High School Jolly Pranksters comedy team will compete in the ComedySportz High School League Tour- nament as well as present a free comic improvisation show for the public this month.

The comic improv show, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 19 in the PHS Amphitheatre, 125 Highland Ave. The show will feature improvisational games played by team members, or "act-letes," who spontaneously create comedic scenes and skits. Audience participation is highly encouraged and an integral part of each show.

The Jolly Pranksters team also is competing for the 12th year in the ComedySportz High School League, the only school in the county to do so. The annual tournament begins Saturday, April 14 at the ComedySportz Arena, 420 S. 1st St., Milwaukee. Two PHS teams will be pitted against each other at 11 a.m. General admission $3 for one match, $5 for two or $8 for three.

The winner advances to play again at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21, with the winner there advancing to the championship at 1 p.m. that day.

In tournament play, teams compete to earn points based on the audience response, and the group that is dubbed by the referee as being the funniest earns the most points. Since audience reaction is important, the team encourages fans to make the trip to Milwaukee. PHS fans can ride the team bus, which is expected to leave the student lot at 9:30 a.m. and return by 3 p.m.; transportation is free, but contact advisor Janet DeJean Newton to make a reservation.

This year's team includes:

· Seniors: Dillon Nemitz, Justin Schmitz, Mady Straub (Guest Player), and Quinn Zwick

· Juniors: Mitch Arnold and Adam Dwyer

· Sophomores: Chase Jasinski, Michael Krusiec, Elizabeth Riley, Cami Schroeder, and Andrew Van Norwick , and Annamarie Welnetz

· Freshmen: Robbie Grimes, Josh Harms, Olivia Straub, Vaughn Zwick, Zoe Zwick, and Jadene Walin

The Jolly Pranksters would like to thank the 2017-18 sponsors: Subway, Waldo State Bank, Masters Gallery Foods, Arnold Mediation Services, Piggly Wiggly, Pleasant View Realty, and Northside Auto & Truck.
