Comm Ed summer sign-up open

Registration is now open for the summer session of Plymouth School District Community Education and Recreation programs, which run from May through August.

Classes include popular wellness options from Aquatics to Yoga, as well as learning opportunities for everyone from babies to senior citizens. In addition, eight new opportunities are offered for the first time:

· Community Conversation - Aging Parents: Topics will include normal vs. not normal aging, when to intervene, creating a care plan, financing, ADRC resources, advance care planning, estate planning, and medical assistance.

· Dog Obedience - Basic Manners: Dogs 6 months and older and a handler will learn basic commands (sit, down, stay, wait, come, and leave it), as well as walking on a leash and meeting other dogs.

· Dog Obedience - Kids and K9s: This class for ages 5 to 14 is similar to Basic Manners (above), with tricks added.

· Wellness Coaching for a Healthier You: Meet once as a group for an open discussion on what Wellness Coaching is, and to explore the 6 dimensions of wellness to see where more balance is needed. Learn about SMART goal setting when it comes to health and wellness and leave with a personal goal(s) set. Then schedule individual meetings with Wellness Director Carly Lenz centered on meeting your individual goal(s).

· Meditation for Beginners: Meditation is about quieting the thoughts running through your head. Explore different techniques and styles of meditation to find one you enjoy.

· Supplement Bone Health: Dr. Dan Francis will discuss ways to keep your bones and skeleton in good health by reducing the risks and effects of osteoporosis. He also will discuss how to evaluate nutritional supplements for quality and cost effectiveness.

· Trail Running: Add some variety to your running routine by taking your route off-road. Utilize the trails of the Kettle Moraine to increase cardio and muscle conditioning and to enjoy nature at the same time. The group will run a variety of trails, including the Greenbush trails, the Ice Age Trail, and the Parnell Tower loop trail.

· Hiking Club: Enjoy the Kettle Moraine and other trails in our area for a weekly group hike. Through a collaboration involving Community Ed & Rec, Ecology Outfitters and Generations, two or three hikes will be offered weekly at various times.
