Smith, who played club baseball the past two years, will play on the HG Tigers’ baseball team this summer. In the past, he played for the Appleton Panthers and Appleton Rhinos at the club level.

He committed to Western Tech, a two-year college, as a second baseman and shortstop. The Cavaliers are in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference.

“I would like to devote all my skills this summer to prepare for next year to make sure I’m ready to compete at the highest level,” said Smith.

“That is always my goal to make it to the next level. I am very excited for the experience. I know it will be a challenge and a change but I am ready and prepared to take it head on.”

The Cavaliers’ conference includes mostly schools from Iowa and Minnesota.

“We have a very strong program with a new coaching staff,” said Smith.

Smith plans to major in political science.
