PHS boys win ECC triangular meet

PHS won the boys meet with 103 points, led by double-winners Derek Novotny and Mason Guell. Winneconne took second with 72, followed by Waupun with 11.

Novotny earned first in the 100- and 200-meter dashes with times of 11.80 and 23.66 seconds, respectively. Guell captured the 800 run in 2 minutes, 5.44 seconds and the triple jump with 42-9¾.

The Panthers placed second in the girls competition with 79.5 points. The winner was Winneconne with 88.5. Waupun was third with 12.

Gabi Mella was a triple-winner to lead the PHS girls. Mella swept the sprints – posting a 13.55 clocking in the 100 and 26.98 in the 200. She won the long jump with a 15-10½ effort.

We had some nice performances,” said PHS head coach Jay Grosshuesch.

“Gabi had a great night with three wins. Lauren [Rabe] ran real well in her opens and relays. Cece had two nice wins in the field events.”

Huhn won the high jump and discus, and Rabe won the 400.

“Derek Novotny looked strong in the 100 and 200. Mason Guell continues to look great in both his races and jumps,” said Grosshuesch.
