The Warriors, ranked No. 6 in the Wisconsin Fast-Pitch Softball Coaches Association Division 2 poll, upped their ECC record to 3-1 (4-1 overall). Waupun is the defending ECC champion.

The Panthers fell to 1-3 in the league (3-3 overall).

Senior pitching ace Megan Van Ruiswyk threw a perfect game for the Warriors in the opener. Van Ruiswyk, an All-ECC first-team hurler last year, retired all nine batters she faced, including four strikeouts. The game was called after three innings due to the 15-run rule.

Kylee Hraban and Megan Gerber led Waupun in hits with two each. Hraban had a team-high two RBIs.

GAME TWO

Waupun outhit PHS 11-5 in the nightcap. Leading the way for the Warriors were Van Ruiswyk, Hraban, Claire Harder and Gerber with two each. Harder slugged a tworun homer.

Collecting one hit each for PHS were Sylvia Peters, Jes- sica Leider, Kennedy Arbuckle, Izzy Arbuckle and Maddy Straub.

Van Ruiswyk was the winning hurler with a complete game. She walked none, fanned two and hit two batters.

Peters pitched a complete game and took the loss. She allowed seven earned runs and three walks to go with two strikeouts.

“We came out flat and made some mistakes and game one got away in a hurry,” said PHS head coach Gale Grahn.

“We rebounded to play a pretty decent game [two]. Hopefully, we will build on some of the good things we did in game two.”
