Panthers cruise to seventh straight win

PHS improved to 8-1 and extended its winning streak to seven. The Panthers are ranked No. 9 in the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association Division 3 poll. The Mustangs fell to 1-5.

Senior forward Sydney Robinson ignited the Panthers’ explosive attack with four goals. Carley Reil tallied two goals and Maggie Munson, Carly Lilek, Jayda Martell, Ashley Batzner and Addie Plate scored one each.

Munson led PHS in assists with three. Lilek and Reil made two each and Martell and Hanna Aukerman had one apiece.

The Panthers held a whop- ping 28-1 advantage in shots on goal. PHS goalkeeper Sam Meyer had one save. Mustang goalies Nicole Plutz and Genna Knudsen combined for 18 saves.

We created quite a few goal scoring opportunities and were able to finish. Ashley Batzner and Addie Plate both scored their first varsity goals,” said PHS head coach Brad Feick.

“We weren’t as crisp as I would have liked to see us. Our passing and defense were a little off.”

On Tuesday evening, PHS defeated visiting Campbellsport, 5-0, in an East Central Conference match. The Panthers upped their ECC record to 6-0 (9-1 overall). More details on the game will be in the Wednesday, May 16 issue.
