Resorters slip past Oostburg twice

OOSTBURG – The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters eked out a pair of wins over Oostburg in a Big East Conference softball doubleheader here May 8.

Elkhart held off a late rally by the Lady Dutch to win the opener, 12-11. The Resorters took the nightcap, 3-2, behind the strong pitching of Megan Flora.

The Resorters upped their BEC record to 5-2 (7-4 overall). The Lady Dutch dropped to 1-6 in the BEC (1-10 overall).

Flora earned a completegame win. The junior allowed no earned runs on eight hits with zero walks and five strikeouts.

Flora’s two-run single gave Elkhart a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning in game two. The Resorters’ other run scored on Hannah Donhauser’s homer in the first.

Donhauser led the Resorters in hits with two. Her other hit was a double. Kyla Grossenbach had a team-high three hits for Oostburg.

GAME ONE

In the opener Oostburg rallied for four runs in the last of the seventh, keyed by Taylor Miller’s three-run triple, but fell shy. Elkhart led 12-7 going into the bottom of the seventh after tallying three runs in the top of the frame.

The Resorters pounded out 14 hits, led by Aryka Klemme with three. Maddie Schneider, Flora, Kaylin Kalbacken and Saylor Schoenborn contributed two each.

Klemme, Kalbacken and Megan Waage paced Elkhart in RBIs with two apiece.

Autumn Frier led the Lady Dutch in hits with three. Miller had a team-best three RBIs.

Waage was the winning pitcher with a complete game. She allowed four earned runs on 12 hits with two walks, one hit batter and three strikeouts.
