Comm Ed offers new class

Plymouth School District Community Education & Recreation is offering a new Trail Running class, plus the popular Walkers Club, Parent/Tot Aquatics, and Little Naturalists Playgroup this summer.

Register by Friday, May 25 and save $10 on the following classes, which will meet at Plymouth High School, 125 Highland Ave., unless otherwise noted:

· Walkers Club: This 12-week opportunity will feature walks of 2 to 3 miles through the neighborhoods and trails of Sheboygan County, with faster-paced and slower-paced groups. Participants will meet at 5:30 p.m. Mondays from June 4 to Aug. 20 at various locations; fee is $10 ($8 for Generations members and district residents ages 62 and up) until May 25, then $20.

· Trail Running: This new fitness opportunity will utilize Kettle Moraine trails to increase cardio and muscle conditioning while offering a chance to enjoy nature. Distances will vary from 3 to 6 miles. Class will meet with instructor Katie Schuenemann at 7 p.m. Tuesdays from June 5 to July 10 at various locations; fee is $20 (seniors $16) until May 25, then $30.

· Parent/Tot Aquatics: Little ones ages 6 months to 5 years will gain a comfort level in the water as parents and other caregivers get tips for water safety. Adults will be in the water with the children, so this class provides a unique opportunity to bond. Class will meet with instructor Beth Kerntke from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Thursdays from June 7 to July 26 (except June 21 and July 5), with an orientation in the cafeteria the first night, followed by pool time. Fee is $38/pair until May 25, then $48.

In addition, Community Ed & Rec again is offering Little Naturalists Playgroup for children ages 2½ to 4 and their caregivers. The playgroup will begin with organized activities and end with unstructured play to let nature be the guide. Held rain or shine, so please dress appropriately. Families will meet with Adrienne Barrett, district garden co-coordinator, at 10 a.m. Fridays May 25, June 22, July 27 and Aug. 24 at Meyer Park. Little Naturalists is offered in conjunction with Summer Playgroup, which meets every Friday at rotating parks; the fourth Friday will coincide with Little Naturalists at Meyer Park.
