Elkhart, HG advance events to sectionals

TeStroete placed fourth. – Review photo by Steve Ottman Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah qualified seven events and Howards Grove, three, for their respective track sectionals in Monday’s regional competition.

The top-four finishers in each regional event qualified for the sectionals which were scheduled for Thursday, May 24.

The Elkhart Resorters competed in the Division 3 regional at Pardeeville. The boys squad was led by Finn Shields who won the discus with a throw of 142-0. He also placed second in the shot put with 43-3½.

Elkhart’s other sectional qualifiers include:

Boys – Noah Ruh, 100 dash, second, 11.95 seconds; 800 relay: Jesse Guerrero, Raistlin Lopez-Lloyd, Austin Henschel and Ruh, fourth, 1 minute, 42.81 seconds; 400 relay: Ruh, Cole Entringer, Guerrero and Hunter Radloff, third, 47.76; and Hunter Radloff, 800 run, second in 2:04.11.

The HG Tigers have three qualifiers out of the D-2 regional at New Holstein. For the girls, Stephanie TeStroete advanced in the girls shot put with a fourth-place finish at 32-5½. In boys competition, Justin Miller and Kaedin Roethel qualified in the high jump and long jump, respectively, with fourth places. Miller leaped 5-8 and Roethel had a distance of 18-11¼.

Kohler/Sheboygan Christian won the D-2 boys regional with 128 points and HG was eighth at 40. Kiel was the girls champion with 195. The Tigers were 10th with 10.

The D-3 regional boys winner was St. Mary’s Springs (Fond du Lac) with 146 and EL-G took seventh with 65. Springs was the girls champion with 162 and EL-G was 10th with 13.
