Short-handed Flames fall in league play

PLYMOUTH – A shorthanded Plymouth Flame team lost to the Hartford Hawks, 12- 2, in baseball action Sunday afternoon at Carl Loebe Field.

The Flames, who were missing several starters, dropped to 1-1 in the Rock River Baseball League and the Southeast Wisconsin Baseball League, and 3-2 overall. The game was called after eight innings due to the 10-run rule.

Plymouth committed five errors which helped the Hawks tally seven unearned runs.

Hartford outhit PHS 11-7, led by Nate Roethle and Bryce Patin with four each. Patin had a team-high three RBIs.

Mike Daly paced the Flames in hits with three and Austin Mork had two. Daly delivered a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Jason Finley earned the win. He started and went five innings – allowing two earned runs on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

Austin Jeffery was the Flames’ starting hurler and took the loss. Jeffery gave up five runs (four earned) on six hits with three walks and zero strikeouts.
