Conservationist of the Year



Dan Renzelman has been named 2018 Wildlife Conservationist of the Year for the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation. Renzelman has been involved in hunting and fishing and has a particular passion for pheasants. In 1996 he introduced a new strain of bird in Sheboygan County, a cross between a game farm and the wilder Jilin pheasants. They stocked 500 the first year. Since then the pheasant program has thrived in Sheboygan County and has continued to improve. Renzelman has given many years of active volunteering to the Sheboygan Conservation Association, giving time and knowledge to improve habitat, work with farmers for grassland areas for wildlife. Renzelman is a member of Johnsonville Conservation Club which he serves as second vice-president and a member of Pheasants Forever. HE has helped to work and raise funds to protect and maintain lake and land habitats in Sheboygan County and has helped to raise and release over 50,000 pheasants in Sheboygan County.
