Memorial day marked in Glenbeulah

Legion post changes name to honor two Gold Star families


American Legion Commander Ron Biskobing (above) conducted the Glenbeulah Memorial Day program Monday. The ceremony at Walnut Grove Cemetery concluded with a gun salute by the post firing squad (below). Later, the name of the post was changed to Gilles-Weiss Post 484 to honor two Glenbeulah natives, Walter P. Gilles and Tom Knight, who died in service in the Korean and Vietnam wars, respectively. On hand for the ceremony were members of the two families, who included: Gilles family (right, above) Sharon (Cary) Limberg, Dale Cary, Beverly (Gilles) Dippel, Brian Gilles and David Gilles. Not present were Orleen (Cary) Phipps and Sandy (Gilles) Amweg. Weiss family (right, below) Bob Firkus (husband of Susan Weiss, deceased), Ken Weiss, Shirley (Weiss) Riley, Mary Jane (Weiss) Marchiando, Jim Weiss and Howie Weiss.
