Knaus bounced back from a quadruple-bogey 8 on the par-4 10th hole with three birdies in the final eight holes to shot a 3-over-par 75 at Whistling Straits’ Irish Course. He carded a 1-over-par 37 on the front nine and a 2-over-par 38 on the back nine.

The state meet was scheduled to be held Monday and Tuesday, June 4 and 5 at the University Ridge Golf Course in Verona.

PHS finished third in the sectional with score of 322. Fond du Lac took first with 304, followed by Sheboygan North at 308. Fond du Lac and North qualified for state.

Plymouth’s other low players were Alec Nicholson with an 80, Johno Aschenbach, 83 and Josh Klister, 84.

“We played well as a team on a difficult course. North and Fond du Lac were just really good,” said PHS head coach Dan Knaus.

“Cade played outstanding. Alec played very consistent golf with an 80. I was pleased with how the team played overall in a tough sectional.”

Maxwell Schmidtke of North was the medalist with a 1-underpar 71. Fond du Lac’s Elliott Nielsen was the runner-up with an even-par 72.
