Rams rally to deal Tigers BEC loss

HOWARDS GROVE – The Random Lake Rams stormed back from a 6-0 deficit to hammer the Howards Grove Tigers, 19-6, in a Big East Conference small-school division baseball game here May 29.

The Rams exploded for seven runs in the top of the third inning and nine in the fourth to go up 10-6. The Rams pounded out 13 hits and took advantage of several walks, hit batters and HG errors.

Travis Jacob and Tyler Landgraf led RL in hits with three each. Travis Huiras had a team-high four RBIs.

Eric Reinemann paced HG in hits with two. Hayden Smith and Nic Koenig had a team-best two RBIs each.

Seven runs by the Rams were unearned.


The Tigers swept a BEC small school division twinbill from Cedar Grove on May 25 at HG by scores of 5-4 and 4-1.

In the opener, the Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to eke out a 5-4 win. Hayden Smith stole home which tied the game, 4-4. Isaac Dirker’s sacrifice fly drove in Nic Koenig with the winning run.

Jack Lilyquist keyed the Tigers’ attack with three hits. Dirker led in RBIs with two.

Smith was the winning pitcher in relief.

In game two, Koenig earned the win. He started and threw five innings – allowing one earned run on six hits with two walks and seven strikeouts.

Reinemann paced HG in hits with two.
