North, CG-B fall in state soccer finals

MILWAUKEE – Sheboygan North and Cedar Grove-Belgium lost in the title matches of their respective divisions at the girls state soccer tournament Saturday at the Uihlein Soccer Park. North fell to Bay Port, 3-1, in the Division 1 finals. Hope Garbison scored the Golden Raiders’ lone goal. Bay Port finished 24-1 and North ended its season at 22-1-1. The Golden Raiders advanced to the title match with a 3-0 semifinal win over Muskego on Thursday. McKayla Kertscher’s two goals led North. Maggie Mueller also scored. The Cedar Grove-Belgium Rockets lost in the D-4 finals to Kenosha St. Joseph, 2-1. Brittany Teunissen scored the Rockets’ goal. CG-B finished 16-1-1 and the Lancers posted a final mark of 16-5-1. The Rockets earned a berth in the championship match with a 1-0 victory over Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld in Friday’s semifinals. Amy TenHaken tallied the winning goal. Green Bay Notre Dame, which defeated Plymouth, 2-1, in a sectional final, won the D-3 state championship with a 1-0 win over Waukesha Catholic Memorial on Saturday. Jenna Cuene scored the winning goal.

Mueller shoots ace at Evergreen

PLYMOUTH – Brian Mueller of Sheboygan shot a hole-in-one Friday at the Evergreen Golf Course. Mueller aced the par-3, 147-yard sixth hole with a 7-wood.
