HG Auditorium grand opening set for July 17

HOWARDS GROVE . The $4.7 million Howards Grove Center for the Arts at Howards Grove High School has been completed, the School Board learned at their June meeting.

The district is planning a Grand Opening/Open House event Tuesday, July 17 from 5-7 p.m.

The program will begin in the main lobby of the high school with a recognition of sponsors, vendors, architects, and builders at 5:15 p.m. There will also be an introduction of Board of Education members (those present) as well as the high school music and art departments.

The ribbon cutting and opening of the auditorium will take place at 5:30 p.m.

The facility will be open to the public until 7 p.m. Community, students and staff will be able to walk through and see the newest addition. Touring of the auditorium will be selfguided however there will be several students throughout the facility to help direct people.

Superintendent Chris Peterson said that the seats were finally delivered and installed recently. The sound system will need to be adjusted to coincide with the seat installation.

Board members approved the hiring of Ben Gasper for the position of supervisor of buildings and grounds.

The World of Art textbook was approved as the new textbook for the new CAPP class.

The board accepted the resignation of member Nate Dehne effective June 19. Applications are available in the district office. The deadline to apply is July 9. Interviews may be held in conjunction with the July board meeting.

Board President Kim Plass recognized a donation from Rich Wagner to the high school track program. Cleveland State Bank donated money to the high school student council. The PTO donated money for the end of the year field trips.

The board acknowledged a letter of thanks received from the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin for the donation of $5,497.08 raised from the Howards Grove Pause for the Cause community event.
