State 23 supported at hearing

350 members of the public, local officials and state legislators attended a public hearing on the State 23 project last week in Fond du Lac.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) is proposing to expand State 23 from US 151 in Fond du Lac east to County P in Plymouth to a four-lane divided highway with various intersection upgrades. All public testimony at the hearing was in support of expansion.

“It is clear that citizens are calling for the four-lane expansion of State 23,” said DOT Secretary Dave Ross. “I would like to thank FHWA and the team at DOT who have been working diligently to move the project forward. It was great to see such overwhelming support locally for a plan that addressed 100 percent of the court’s concerns.”

Written testimony is still being accepted until July 31 and should be sent to Bryan Lipke, P.E., WisDOT Project Manager, 944 Vanderperren Way, Green Bay 54304; email
