Meals on Wheels June-A-Palooza Saturday

Tickets are now available for Meals On Wheels’ sixth annual June-A-Palooza fundraiser at Christopher Farm & Gardens in Sheboygan on Saturday, June 30, from 3-10 p.m.

Touted as a “rip roarin’ hurly-burly at the farm,” the event offers an eclectic blend of music, hands-on entertainment, carefully selected wines and malted beverages, in addition to an assortment of dynamic foods and live and silent auctions.

Some of this year’s chefs represent John Michael Kohler Art Center’s ArtCafĂ©, Prohibition Bistro, Rupp’s Downtown, Sargento Foods and Vollrath Co.

Visual entertainment includes Irish-fusion dance by the Milwaukee Irish Dance Co. and professional log rolling with Hudson Log Rollers.

For those who want to be more active, there are more than eight miles of pathways for walking and the opportunity to create original driftwood branch art, experience a custom-made sling shot apparatus, or ride along on motorized animals, a trackless train or the garden train.

“This adults-only event is going to be tons of fun for everyone who attends,” said Allison Thompson, associate executive director of Fresh Meals On Wheels. “For one price, you can eat, drink, play and listen to music, plus enjoy the amazing and ever-changing Christopher Farm and Gardens.

“It is a location that always leaves me awestruck,” she said. “It is amazing how much changes year to year. We are grateful for the opportunity to host this soiree at the farm and sincerely thank Mr. Christopher for allowing us this exciting opportunity.”

Daytime musical entertainment includes Jjaru, with creative arrangements of pop, rock, folk-rock and blues from the `60s to today; Five Foot Two with jazz and swing favorites from the `20s, `30s and `40s and a special performance by the Sheboygan North High drum line.

Milwaukee’s ever-popular reggae band, King Solomon will finish out the evening.

A continued highlight of June-A-Palooza is the auctioning of 3-foot and 5-foot metal fork and spoon art, and this year there are sporks as well.

June-A-Palooza is the only place to see all of the artwork in one location and where bids are placed.

This event is made possible thanks to premier sponsors ACUITY and Christopher Farm & Gardens, as well as support from Aurora, Lake 98.1, Lakeside Pepsi, Masters Gallery, Sargento, Sartori, Vollrath Co. and Wisconsin Bank & Trust.

Tickets cost $150 in advance or $190 at the gate. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.juneapalooza.com or call 920-451-7011.

All proceeds from the event benefit Meals On Wheels of Sheboygan County to support the mission of Meals On Wheels, to enhance the quality of independent living through fresh, affordable, nutritious home-delivered meals with caring social interaction.
