American Club centennial marked Aug.5

Join The American Club as it celebrates 100 years of company and Village history.

In addition to year-long celebrations, the grand celebration takes place on Sunday, Aug. 5, with a celebratory parade, a speech by Executive Chairman Herbert V. Kohler, Jr., a traditional Kohler ice cream social – and culminates with live entertainment by Grammy-award winner Amy Grant, and fireworks.

Kohler Co., one of America’s oldest and largest privately held companies and a leader in kitchen and bath plumbing products, will commemorate the 100th anniversary of The American Club with a live concert featuring Grammy-award winning artist Amy Grant on Aug. 5, and additional experiences throughout the year to honor the historic building.

The American Club – now a Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond resort hotel – has a storied past dating back to 1918, when it was built as a dormitory for immigrant factory workers of the company.

The stately Tudor-influenced red brick landmark featuring a gabled blue slate roof and dormers, is an iconic testament to the American spirit and the company’s pursuit to preserve its links to the immigrant workers who first resided in the building.

The renowned property is also recognized by both the Historic Hotels of America and National Register of Historic Places.

The parade will begin at 1 p.m. at the intersection of Highland Drive and Upper Road heading south, taking a right onto Orchard Road heading west, a left onto Church Street heading south, a right onto School Street heading west, a left onto Valley Road heading south, a left onto Green Tree Road heading east, a left onto West Park Lane heading north, a right onto School Street heading east, and finally a left onto Highland Drive heading north and finishing at The American Club.

Other events will take place Sunday, Aug. 5, on the front lawn of The American Club, 444 Highland Dr., Kohler.
