State 23 repaving begins

Work will begin this week on the resurfacing of State 23 from Fond du Lac to Plymouth, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) northeast region office in Green Bay.

The 7.5-mile, $1,767,599.32 project on State 23 from Division Street (Fond du Lac) to County P (Plymouth) consists of milling and resurfacing of asphaltic pavement surface, adding base aggregate to shoulders, adding centerline rumble strips, signing, pavement marking, and beam guard adjustments. It is scheduled for completion in late August.

Message boards were placed on July 3. The contractor will begin milling and paving operations from the eastern project limit working west. Milling and paving will begin just west of Pioneer Road.

There will be single lane closures on State 23 with flagging operations. All lanes will remain open during holidays and large race events at Road America.
