BERNADETTE M. MONDLOCH

Bernadette M. Mondloch, age 84, of Adell, WI, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018) at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan.

She was born on November 12, 1933 in Silver Creek, WI, a daughter of the late Ernest and Cecilia (Slavick) Backhaus.

Bernadette attended Grade School in Silver Creek and graduated from Random Lake High School. After High School she went on to attend Lakeshore College for two years, earning her Teaching Certificate.

On November 27, 1954, she married James Mondloch at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kewaskum. He preceded her in death on November 28, 1997.

She was the Clerk Treasurer for the Town of Sherman and the Village of Adell for over 20 years. She also was a reporter for the Random Lake Sounder, Plymouth Review, and the Ozaukee Press.

Bernadette was a lifelong member at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Adell. She enjoyed playing the organ for Sunday Mass and other occasions. She was very active in the Church and was responsible for St. Patrick’s Catholic Church being added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

She was a very accomplished seamstress and musician and was a member of the Wisconsin Musician’s Union. She enjoyed playing the organ for 42 years at St. Patrick Catholic Church and also played accordion in the Polka Dots in the early 1950’s. For 33 years she was an active leader in the Smiling Shamrocks 4H Club.

Bernadette was very instrumental in helping passing the law that allowed special needs children to be able to ride the school bus. She was very active and passionate about serving the Community and the Church.

Survivors include her seven children: Richard (Sherri) Mondloch of Adell, Linda (Jimmy) Loescher of Adell, Scott (Germain) Mondloch of Dundee, Peggy Mondloch of Las Vegas, Paul (Marilyn) Mondloch of Missouri, Sarah (Chris) Sulzen of Wyoming, and John (Rebecca) Mondloch of Sheboygan; 14 Grandchildren; 15 Great-grandchildren; One brother: Harold Backhaus of Sheboygan; and One brother-in-law: Vernon Diels of Plymouth.

She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by: Her husband; Parents; Daughters: Julie and Maria; Brother: Robert; and Two sisters: Helen and Theresa.

Following Bernadette’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a prayer service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at noon at St. Patrick Catholic Church, W4690 County Rd A, Adell. Father Richard Cerpich will officiate. Inurnment will take place in the Parish Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, July 14, from 11 a.m.. until time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Bernadette’s name for the American Breast Cancer Foundation.
