Sheriff’s Report 7-6-09

The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department responded to two injury accidents on the Fourth of July – the first at 6 a.m. when two vehicles collided at the intersection of Spring Road and County A in the town of Herman.

Claudette K. Barutha, 33, of Plymouth was southbound on Spring Road and failed to stop at the stop sign. Barutha turned left onto A, into the path of Mary L. Neuman, 56, of Howards Grove, and the two vehicles collided. Franklin Fire Department, Howards Grove First Responders, Plymouth and Kiel Ambulances, and Jaws of Life responded to the scene. Neuman and a passenger in Barutha’s vehicle, Bradley Strysick, 28, were transported to local hospitals for injuries. Barutha was ticketed for failing to stop at stop sign.

The second accident occurred at 1:23 p.m. in the town of Plymouth. Brian J. Hunt, 30, of Sun Prairie, was driving a 2003 Honda Moped southbound on County S when Amy L. Walcott, 35, of Plymouth was eastbound on County Z. According to the accident report, Hunt pulled away from the stop sign in front of Walcott and the two units collided. Hunt was transported to Froedtert by Flight for Life. He was cited for failing to yield right of way at stop sign.

A bottle rocket was the cause of a fire to a roof in the town of Wilson, according to Capt. David Adams.

Michael Trempe reported the fire at 10:16 p.m. July 3 after a bottle rocket landed on his roof and started the roof on fire at 4939 Weeden Creek Road.

Trempe was lighting bottle rockets, along with Sheena Bar. Trempe was able to put out the fire before the fire department arrived. The amount of damage is unknown.
