Scholarship available to blood donors

Students in the Sheboygan County area can donate blood and enter for a chance to win a $1,000 college scholarship July 14-15, at Memorial Mall in Sheboygan.

The mall will be hosting the scholarship blood drive in partnership with BloodCenter of Wisconsin, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, and from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 15.

All eligible student donors will have the opportunity to enter a drawing for a $1,000 college scholarship. Community members, including teachers, families and friends can donate on behalf of an eligible student to increase the student’s chances of winning the scholarship.

Donating just one unit of blood and one hour of time has the potential to help save lives in the community.

Anyone who is at least 16 years old with parental consent, weighs a minimum of 110 pounds and is in generally good health can donate blood.

The entire process takes approximately one hour. All blood types are needed. Donors should bring a photo identification with them.
