Tigers win title in WBBY Tourney

Looking on for PHS is Max Hassel (24). – Review photo by Greg Ceilley PLYMOUTH – Howards Grove won the Pools E-F championship in the Wisconsin Boys Basketball Yearbook Tournament, held here July 6-8.

The high school tourney drew 40 teams. The Tigers, who won Pool E with a 3-1 record, defeated Pool F winner Clear Lake in the finals, 54-43. Jack Baldwin led the Tigers’ attack with 22 points.

Baldwin was selected the Most Valuable Player for Pools E-F.

HG’s Justin Miller and Blake Pedrin were named to the alltournament team for Pools E-F.

The Plymouth Panthers placed second in Pool A, with their only loss coming against De Pere which won the pool at 4-0. PHS defeated Wrightstown, South Milwaukee and Fond du Lac.

De Pere lost to Pool B winner Sheboygan Lutheran in the Pools A-B title game, 47-35. Jacob Ognacevic of Lutheran scored a game-high 21 points and was the MVP for Pools A-B.

Sheboygan Falls took second in Pool G with a 3-1 mark – finishing behind University School of Milwaukee (4-0). University School beat Hilbert, 65-49, in the Pools G-H finals.

Falls’ Jamison Nickolai and Connor Spielvogel made the Pools G-H all-tourney squad.
