Shaw Family Playground project launches

Photos by Dennis Murphy Photos by Dennis Murphy After years of planning, preparation and dedication, groundbreaking for the construction of the Shaw Family Playground project took place at Evergreen Park in Sheboygan on Monday, July 16.

For the past 10 years the project has been the dream of Angie and Ryan Shaw, parents of conjoined twins Mateo and McHale. The twins, who underwent a miracle separation surgery, have inspired the design and construction of the 100-percent accessible playground.

“Without the generosity of so many compassionate donors, the project would have never come so far,” Angie Shaw said. “However, the work is far from finished, and now we are humbly challenging new prospective donors, as well as previous donors who would like to further their contributions, to provide financial aid towards the inclusion of a shelter and restrooms for the playground. An anonymous donor has pledged to match up to $250,000 of new donations received towards the development of the playground and restroom/shelter facility.”

A ribbon cutting ceremony is anticipated to take place this September. For more information, about the Shaw Family Playground and how to donate, visit and click on the Partner With Us tab.

“Each generous contribution is another great step towards an enriched community and a better life for all children, regardless of the individual challenges they face,” Angie Shaw said.
