State 23 repaving finished

One down, two to go.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) northeast region office in Green Bay, work on the State 23 resurfacing project from Division Street in Greenbush to County P in Plymouth has been completed.

The work consisted of milling and resurfacing of asphaltic pavement surface, adding base aggregate to shoulders, adding centerline rumble strips, signing, pavement marking, and beam guard adjustments.

On the State 28 resurfacing project, the intersection of State 28 and State 32 is now open to through traffic. Temporary lane closures using flagging will continue along State 28 as crews finish remaining work.

The 8.60-mile, $2.25 million project on State 28 from State 57 in the town of Lyndon to Prange Road in the town of Wilson includes milling and resurfacing existing asphaltic pavement, adding centerline rumble strips, guard rail adjustment and replacement, gabion wall construction, sidewalk and curb ramp replacement, pavement marking and signing, and modifying street lighting. It is scheduled for completion in mid to late September.

This week, the contractor will remove and install permanent signing, shape and base shoulders, and complete all remaining contract work.

On the Interstate 43 cable barrier project, the contractor will continue installing hardware for the cable barrier on the middle and north segments this week. Most likely the contractor will move to the south segment at some point in the week to install hardware on the line posts.

The 6.27 mile, $1.640 million project on I-43 from Wilson Lima Road to Fischer Creek Road will install median cable barrier in the project limits and place a high-friction polymer overlay on the I-43/ County EE (Weeden Creek Road) overpass. Various bridge surface repairs and concrete masonry deck repairs will also take place. It is scheduled for completion on Aug. 29.

There are three segments in different locations where the cable barrier is being installed on I-43. The south segment starts at Wilson Lima Road and ends at the structures over County EE/Weeden Creek Road. The middle segment starts at County MM and ends at Orchard Road. The north segment starts at County Line Road and ends at Fischer Creek Road.

Single-lane closures will occur with the left lane closed in both the northbound and southbound directions on I-43 to work in the median. Work restrictions will occur at different days/times throughout the week, where all traffic control devices will be removed and all lanes of travel will be open to traffic during peak hours.
