Dario D. Rossini, age 95, of Sun City, AZ, (formerly of Plymouth, WI) passed away July 11, 2018.

He was born on November 10, 1922 in Two Harbors, MN to the late Louis and Nicolina (Bombagi) Rossini, both originally from Italy.

He attended grade schools in Minnesota, Mass City, MI, Campbellsport, WI and Clayton, WI. He attended high school in Clayton, WI and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1941.

In 1948 (after his military service), he graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a BS in Dairy Science.

Dario served three years in the U S Army Air Corps (later to become the U S Air Force) on a B-24 bomber flying out of Italy. His plane was shot down on his 20th mission and he became a prisoner of war. Freedom came when the Allies liberated the camps. He was honorably discharged as a 1st Lt. a few months after the end of WWII.

From 1948 until Dario’s retirement, he worked at the S & R Cheese Corporation (now Sartori) in Plymouth, becoming their master cheese maker. His father and Paul (Paulo) Sartori had founded the original company in 1939.

In 1999, he left Plymouth and moved to Sun City AZ.

He was a member of the Ladewig- Zinkgraf Post #243 of the American Legion in Plymouth and a member of the Agua Fria Chapter of the American Ex- Prisoners of War in Sun City AZ.

Survivors include one sister, Lillian Rossini of Santa Fe, NM, 10 nieces and nephews and their families, and many friends.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday (August 25, 2018) at 11:00 A.M at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Father Philip Reifenberg, Pastor of the Church will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Parish Cemetery. The Ladewig-Zinkgraf American Legion Post #243 of Plymouth will conduct Military Rites at the cemetery.

Visitation will take place at the church on Saturday (Aug. 25) from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mass.

There will also be a Memorial Mass on Saturday (September 1, 2018) at 11:00 A.M. at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 9728 W. Palmeras Dr., Sun City, AZ. With the Rosary taking place prior to the Mass at 10:30 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Dario’s name to the Mayo Clinic in support of Cancer Research. Donation information can be found at Suchon Funeral Home website listed below.
