The Panthers won by scores of 25-19, 25-13, 21-25, 25-22, despite 14 kills from Megan Flora and 18 assists and 10 kills from Avery Feldmann.

The Resorters also got 12 assists from Ciara Hassinger and 17 digs from Karissa Entringer.

“There was good leadership from the captains,” ELG coach Diane Feldmann said. “They are a relatively inexperienced team that will be fun to watch grow and develop. The key to our success will be jelling together and people learning to play with the lead.”

SOCCER

Random Lake handed New Holstein/Elkart Lake-Glenbeulah a 3-1 loss on Thursday by scoring two unassisted breakaway goals in the opening half.

Evan Petrie’s first goal of the year in the 64th minute cut the deficit in half, but the Rams clinched the win with a goal in the 78th minute.

Freshman goalkeeper Levi Kesler recorded 14 saves and sophomore goalie Deegan Kossman added three saves.

“The team played well despite a very young roster of players we have,” co-op coach John Moore said. “We started four freshmen along with three sophomores. We won the battle in terms of time of possession and having more shots on goal than Random Lake. So we will continue to focus on our strengths and work on finishing/ shots on goal while maintaining a solid defense as the season unfolds.”

CROSS COUNTRY

Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah competed in the Kiel Invitational Thursday and was led by Sophie Sutcliffe’s time of 19:29, which was good for 71st place.

She was followed by teammates Lucy Sutcliffe (19:46), Mia Rentmeester (20:12), Ayaka Hara (21:33) and Delilah Quasius (21:48). For the boys, ELG’s Ransom Yasko finished 100th in 21:47. He was followed by Cody Nelson (23:33) and Cole Entringer (24:11).
