Herman L. Knoener, Jr., 81 of Elkhart Lake passed away on Friday evening, September 7, 2018 at the Aurora Medical Center in Grafton.

Herman was born on February 13, 1937 in Plymouth, a son to the late Herman and Elsie (Lapinski) Knoener, Sr. He graduated from Plymouth High School and attended Lakeshore Technical College. He was united in marriage to LaVerne Pitz. He had been employed in the engineering department of Curt G. Joa for 42 years and in his retirement at Road America. Herman served in the Air Force Reserve.

He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake.

Herman is survived by his wife, LaVerne; a daughter, Cindy Knoener of Chicago and a sister, Adeline Kobel of Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews and other relatives further survive.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 AM, Thursday, September 13 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Rev. Philp Reifenberg as celebrant. Family and friends may gather at the church, 94 N. Lincoln St, Elkhart Lake on Thursday morning form 9 AM until time of Mass at 11 AM
