Kid’s Talk: Great Things happening at the Boys & Girls Club

Tie-dying
by Lilyana Beaudion Sheboygan Falls B&G Club

My name is Lilyana and I am a member at the Boys & Girls Club in Sheboygan Falls.

I will be in fourth grade at Sheboygan Falls Elementary School starting in September. This summer at the club, I missed seeing my friends, but I made lots of new friends at the Boys & Girls Club, because I came almost every day.

This summer we did lots of fun games and projects. One that I really liked was tie-dying Boys & Girls Club shirts.

We went into the kitchen and got our shirts wet. Then we went into the games room and picked what style we wanted our shirts to be. We used rubber bands to make different patterns. Then we took the shirts to the gym and we picked what color we wanted.

I chose blue and purple with a swirly pattern. Then we had to put on rubber gloves and an old T-shirt and used little bottles of dye to squirt the shirts where we wanted the color. I accidentally dropped mine in the bucket with the extra dye, so it has lots of colors. Even though it was raining outside, we had a sunny, fun day making our shirts.

I ordered extra shirts so some of my friends could make them with me. We are all going to wear our shirts when we walk in the Falls Fest Parade on Aug. 21.
